Top 5 interior design trends

Wondering what the interior design trends are for this year? Here are just a few Interior design trends you can expect to see making an appearance throughout 2019 and beyond

1. INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS – COLOUR

Find some colour inspiration for 2019 with Pantone and Dulux’s colour of the year for 2019.

The Pantone colour of the year is living coral. Living Coral is on the surface a very pretty colour but it has a much deeper meaning and a very important message.

Inspiration was taken from two main areas, the first being coral reefs. Hidden deep beneath the sea, coral reefs form some of the earth’s most diverse ecosystems. Occupying a tiny space in the world’s ocean area they still manage to provide a home for a quarter of all marine species.

Coral is a warm and nurturing colour so think about incorporating pops of Coral into your home décor to bring vibrancy and warmth to any room. Think soft furnishings like throws, cushions and blankets and small decorative accessories like vases, frames and coasters.

The Dulux colour of the year is spiced honey.

Chosen to enhance a positive mood and atmosphere. Its versatility offers several options. Mix the amber and warm tones with soft neutrals to create and soft and calming effect throughout your living space. For a more vibrant look, pair with bolder colours to bring a burst of energy.

“PANTONE LIVING CORAL IS EVOCATIVE OF HOW CORAL REEFS PROVIDE SHELTER TO A DIVERSE KALEIDOSCOPE OF COLOUR”.

2. INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS – TERRAZZO

This multipurpose hardwearing material is hard to beat at the moment and you are likely to see it popping up everywhere and anywhere. Great for kitchen floors, tiles and surfaces but has also provided lots of inspiration for some lovely fabrics and wallpapers.

Terrazzo is a composite material often consisting of marble, quartz and granite which is set into concrete or clay. The terrazzo that we see used today derives from 18thcentury Italy where it was commonly used for pavements.

Feeling bold? If you are in need of a new kitchen surface why not consider terrazzo. Despite the concrete element, up to 80% of terrazzo can be made up of recyclable materials, offering a wonderful mixture and texture of colours. A great option for a kitchen surface due to its hardwearing properties and never-ending patterns, which means it can easily be refreshed by polishing, making it a long-lasting practical investment.

For a more subtle look and feel the terrazzo style can be incorporated into all areas of the home including; soft furnishings, wallpaper and homeware accessories.
